This rugged, tribal district in the heart of the country is home to more than 900 villages and nearly 700,000 people, of whom 85% are Hindu, 12% follow tribal religions, and less than 1% are Christian. It is one of the least-reached regions of India. Yet it is a region hungry for hope, as well as a strategic gateway to other unreached areas across central India that have remained closed for generations.
